Cincinnati Magazine – 40 Who Shaped the City October 2007 Lilias FolanSOMEWHERE, RIGHT NOW, there’s someone breathing deeply in Downward Facing Dog because of Lilias Folan. In 1972, thousands of people across the United States started parking themselves in front of their Zeniths each day for Lilias! Yoga and You. The lithe teacher with the long dark braid was an Indian Hill homemaker, but her program, produced by WCET, was syndicated on public television stations across the nation. It helped to raise the national stature of WCET and establish Cincinnati as something more progressive than a sleepy Midwestern porkopolis. “All I was doing was what my heart told me to do,” Folan says. “To be appreciative of every breath one takes, and present to the miracle of life.” - DONNA COVRETT
